Halloween Bunting Project + Free Printable

You've seen those buntings, haven't you? They go by various names - like swags or banners.  Pennants, too. Well...here's how to make one. I've even created the printable. Yee haw!! You only need a few types of craft supplies and most can be found at Factory Direct Craft.

Supplies:

• Halloween Banner Printable - Found here and here. It's 2 pages.
• 2 sheets White glossy or matte coated cardstock - 8 1/2 x 11 inches
• 3 sheets Coordinating cardstock, either 8 1/2 x 11 or 12x12. I used a charcoal grey. 
• Orange paper.  I used scrapbook paper.  You'll need a 6x6 or 8x8 piece - or the equivalent. 
• 3-4 yards of ribbon.  I used 1/8 inch satin ribbon in chocolate brown.  Use more if you'd like!!
• Adhesive. I used double-stick tape squares, because I like them. You could use a tape runner or glue stick too. I would stay away from wet glue, though.

Tools:

Scissors or an exacto knife.  
Paper Cutter
1 1/2 inch circle punch
Pumpkin punch
Slot punch or ribbon punch.  If you don't have a slot or ribbon punch, use a regular round hole punch.
Ruler or straight edge

To Make:

Print the two pages of the bunting from above.  If you have an inkjet printer, allow to dry thoroughly.  Time  depends on your printer and it's settings.  Once dry, cut them out with the scissors or exacto and straight edge. Set aside.

Now punch 12 circles from your cardstock.  Using your slot punch, punch 2 holes in the top center of each one.  Set them aside.  Punch 12 pumpkins from the orange paper.  Put adhesive on the back of the pumpkins and adhere to the cardstock circles.  Center the pumpkins under the slots.

Helpful hint: For the orange paper, it can be any pattern.  I used something that was sunset-looking.  This is great for your scraps, too. 

Take one of the printed pennants and mount to the cardstock, leaving a 1/2 to 3/4 inch border all around.  Make sure the edges are stuck down well.  Repeat with the other pennants.  You should be able to get 3 on a piece of cardstock.

Helpful hint: If you're leaving a 1/2 inch border all around, be sure to leave at least an inch between pennants when mounting them.

Cut the mounted pennants apart using the paper cutter or straight edge/exacto.  Using your slot/ribbon punch, punch holes in the top border.  I suggest 3 sets, as that helps prevent sagging of the pennants.

Now to string!  Start by stringing a pumpkin medallion in the center of the ribbon.  Next, add a pennant on each side of the pumpkin medallion.  Then add a pumpkin medallion on each end after pennant.  Repeat until all the pennants are strung.  You should have 6 pumpkins left.  Add 3 pumpkins to each end.

Voila!  A super cute Halloween Bunting.
