Trop50 Juice Review + $50 Spa GC Give It Away

Have you heard of Trop50?  I had seen the commercials but hadn’t paid much attention beyond that.  I knew it was a lighter version of juice and that was about it.

Come to find out, Trop50 has 50 percent less calories and 50 percent less sugar than regular juice!  It also has no artificial sweeteners.  Instead, they use a stevia-based sweetener, which is all-natural.  An 8 oz glass has just 50 calories and 100% of your daily allowance of vitamin C, too.

Siam Natural Soap Review + Give It Away - US

Siam Natural Soap has a unique take on beauty. Using natural solutions from Southeast Asia that have been passed down for generations, Siam Natural creates their line with a modern twist.

I’m a huge fan of handmade soap, so I was very excited to receive a Honey Coconut Facial Scrub. Made from natural products like coconut, honey, coconut milk, olive oil, and essential oils, this scrub has a great scent. It’s a very thick, almost putty like, scrub and has a very natural look.

How To Shave with a Brush and Safety Razor

Shaving really has become a lost skill.  Usually, it’s such a chore that you totally dread doing it.  Add in the cuts, nicks, razor burn and irritated skin, sometimes I wonder why we do it at all.  It doesn’t have to be that way, though.  Here’s how to get a great shave.

The key items that you need are a nice razor, a great shaving brush, and a glycerin based shaving cream or soap.  These usually come in cakes/bars or a small tub or canister.

Softlips Lip Balm Winter Flavors - Review - Gift Guide

I may have mentioned a time or two that I like lip balm. I mean, I really, really like it! Softlips has always been one of the brands that I carry with me. When I saw that they were bringing back the Holiday flavors of Sugar Cookie, Winter Mint, Sugar & Spice, and Sugar Plum Berry, I was a pretty happy girl! I bought a set last year, but ended up using it as a gift and didn’t get the chance to try these limited edition flavors.

Mederma Stretch The Truth Game + Giveaway - US

You've heard of Two Truths and a Lie, right?  That's the icebreaker/parlor game where you make 3 statements - 2 are true, one is not.   People try to figure out which one is the fib.  Well, the skin care line Mederma has launched a new facebook game called Stretch the Truth, based on the same concept.  Fun eh?

Here are mine - try to guess which one you think is my lie!

I love anything sparkly.
I like to knit.
My favorite vegetable is Zucchini.

Rockabilly Inspired Vintage Bobby Set - Giveaway YAY - WW

I'm always getting my hair cut, then deciding I really want to grow it out.  It's a seriously vicious cycle. We're currently in a growing out phase.  That's why I love hair accessories soooo much! Well, part of the reason, at least.

A fantastic set of Rockabilly inspired vintage bobby pins.  I adore rockabilly and pinup!  However, it's not one of those looks that I think I could pull off - I think it has more to do with the attitude.  This is a bit of rockabilly for the rest of us.

Conair Xtreme Instant Heat Hot Rollers - Giveaway YAY

Recently I had the opportunity to test out Conair’s new Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Hot Rollers. I had some mixed feelings about this. Even though my hair’s natural texture is somewhat curly/wavy, I still use curling irons from time to time to control the wave. Hot rollers, though…those weren’t for me. I hadn’t used rollers since I was in Jr High.

When I got the Conair Xtreme hot rollers, though, I knew they were different. The first thing I noticed was the new style of clip. Rather than having the bobby pin style holders, these have big claw clips to hold the curlers in place. Hmmm…interesting! Another change was the rollers themselves. These were soft and velvety, and they seemed like they’d hold your hair better. With these two new design features, I realized that these weren’t my mama’s hot rollers!

Burt's Bees Sensitive Skin Facial Care - Review

Recently, I was approached about taking the Burt's Bees for Sensitive Skin face care line for a test drive.  Being a lifelong sensitive skin sufferer, I immediately said "oh, yes please!" It also didn't hurt that I am a long-time fan of the line.  In nerd-circles, I may even be referred to as a fan boy...er, fan girl.

Burt's Bees says:  These gentle formulas are clinically proven to cleanse and moisturize sensitive skin without causing redness or irritation. Softening Cotton Extract helps skin replenish its outer layer, shielding it from potential irritants such as harsh soaps or cleansers, so your sensitive skin will look and feel beautiful, naturally.

I received a Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream and a Sensitive Facial Cleanser.  It arrived with perfect timing, as I was going to an event that night and I needed to get ready.  The facial cleanser has almost no scent - it just smells natural.  As I was using it, I realized that it doesn't foam.  At all.  I suppose that due to the soap-free & sls/sles free formulation.  This does take some getting used to, though.  It left my face feeling clean, but not stripped or tight.

Then, it was on to the Daily Moisturizing Cream.  It also has virtually no scent.  The moisturizer comes out of the pump a little thick but it applies very nicely.  It soaks in almost immediately, which I really like.  I hate having that greasy mask feel.  One caveat - there's no SPF, so you still need a sunscreen.

I've been using the products for about 10 days now.  I haven't had any flare-ups of eczema or psoriasis.  I also haven't had any blemishes.  I'm not particularly prone to pimples or acne, but you always wonder when you change your skin care regimen.  I also haven't had to use my prescription cream during this.

For the past several years, I've been using a department store line at the recommendation of my dermatologist.  I think I may have a new skin care line to use. An added bonus - it's about 1/3 of the price.

I was selected for this through bzzagent. I received the products listed for review purposes only. I received no compensation.

Fashion Friday: StyleFind

Have you heard about StyleFind? StyleFind is a great site that allows you to find great items from all over the web.

Is there a new trend that you've seen and love? Take, for example, Navajo. The editors of StyleFind have put together a collection of great items. Want to explore Navajo more? Just do a search!

Or maybe you need some help determining your best jeans for the fall. StyleFind's editors have put together collections based on body type to help you find the jeans you'll want to live in. Not quite sure what your body type is? There's a handy-dandy quiz for that!

StyleFind isn't just fashion though! Oh no. They also have beauty and accessories! Items are broken down into just about any category you want and the search engine is crazy powerful! This is a search I did for mineral:

It got cut off, but there's 106 pages of mineral makeup and related items. 106 pages!!

One complaint that I do have about StyleFind is that they seem to only pull their items from the big sites (Anthropologie, Zappos, Piperlime, Ulta, etc.) While there are sites & brands I wasn't familiar with, I was hoping to find a lot more of the indie lines and sites that could really use a boost by being included in a site like this.

I participated in this campaign as part of the BzzAgent campaign.

GIVEAWAY! Win a set of 3 Vintage Bobby Pins!

I'm always getting my hair cut, then deciding I really want to grow it out. It's a seriously vicious cycle. That's why I love hair accessories soooo much! Well, part of the reason, at least.

These aren't your everyday bobbies, though. Oh no, they're special! First off, it's a set of 3 that are coordinated. Second, they're vintage! Vintage, you say? Welll...the decorations are vintage. A vintage flower rhinestone, a vintage lucite flower, and a vintage Japanese carved glass medallion. They date from the 1940s-1960s. And the pin part? Well, they're silver-plated! These are really nice, super luxe bobby pins.

Use them to pin your bangs back, pull the side up, or even to secure a bun!

Fab Five

Since we're still getting to know one another, I thought I should share some of the things I really like. You may have a chance to win one (or more!) of these things soon.

1. Lip Balm.  My favorite lip balm is one I bought in Seattle at a small store a dozen years ago. I carried the empty tin around for a while, comparing it to every similar lip balm I ran across. Alas, the tin is long gone and i never have run across the same one again.  A close second is Burt's Bees.  I love the tingle, the scent, the lack of taste, pretty much everything. At any given time, I have 3 or 4 different lip balms on me.

2. Miranda Lambert.  Love her sound, her attitude, her personality.  And this song?  Yeah...

3. Harmonica Necklace.  I totally dig these!  Sly.  Sassy.  Kitsch.  Plus, it gives you something to do if you're dying of boredom or need someone's attention.  And you never know when a jam is going to break out.

4. Makeup.  My favorite time of the year is Christmas.  Not for the season, particularly, but because that's when the cosmetic companies put out the big collections of makeup!  I have always loved cosmetics, even though I'm not particularly girly in my everyday life.

5. Old Buildings.  I adore old buildings.  Some have been remodeled, some have not.  All have a rich and varied history.

How about you?  What do you dig?
